Ponchos

The poncho has been a big fashion item in recent years. It can be very simply made using squares or repeating blocks. A poncho is merely an afghan with a hole in the centre. Any square designs could be used.

This poncho is made from 16 blocks which fit together to make large swirls so that the individual squares are no longer obvious. The poncho was finished with a narrow edging and a narrow band at the neck.

16 squares were joined together for this poncho. The squares at the neck each have part missing to form the hole.

The arrangement on the left was used for the poncho.

There are many other arrangements that could have been made using the same half-and-half squares.

The four blocks at the neck have one corner missing.
